Founding History:

Mid 2007 a group of business friends from Europe and the U.S. discussed ways to improve business between Europe and the United States. The conversation had started because there were different success stories of U.S. Companies doing business in Europe and Visa Versa but a kind of isolated mutual ignorance of both European and U.S. Small businesses to broaden their horizon and expand small business across their mutual “Big Pond”.
One of the friends living in Berlin Germany kept an observant eye (and kept studying) on the small business market for the next couple of years, in the meantime also looking for “the ideal place to eventually retire” in the U.S.A.
It is not a secret and no news that Small Business is the heart and “driver” of any economy whether it is in Europe or the United States:

Small Business:

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the top 10 reasons to love small business, what the SBA's Office of Advocacy calls "the heart of the American economy."

1. Small businesses make up more than 99.7% of all employers.
2. Small businesses create more than 50 % of the nonfarm private gross domestic product (GDP).
3. Small patenting firms produce 13 to 14 times more patents per employee than large patenting firms.
4. The 22.9 million small businesses in the United States are located in virtually every neighborhood.
5. Small businesses employ about 50 % of all private sector workers.
6. Home-based businesses account for 53 % of all small businesses.
7. Small businesses make up 97 % of exporters and produce 29 % of all export value.
8. Small businesses with employee’s start-up at a rate of over 500,000 per year.
9. Four years after start-up, half of all small businesses with employees remain open.
10. The latest figures show that small businesses create 75 % of the net new jobs in the U.S. economy (source: www.sba.gov)

Creation of Team Group:

One of the trips brought the TEAM GROUP LEADER to New Bern, where he encountered, amongst the ideal atmosphere and literally “temperature” to retire, one of the most small business friendly cities and counties he encountered during the frequent visits he made to the U.S. from 1996 on. He soon happened to make friends with some of the citizens that helped him as much as possible to taste the business atmosphere in the New Bern and Craven area of responsibility. They connected Peter to the people that are important in “business matters” i.e. the Chamber of Commerce www.newbernchamber.com and the Craven County Economic development Commission www.yescraven.com and the New Bern Community college www.cravencc.edu It was during one of those visits that the idea of “Team Group” was born and so was the U.S. Home Base: New Bern, NC.

The famous Brandenburg gate in Berlin

Both Berlin and New Bern have a bear in their City Seals:
Berlin stems from Bärlin referring to a Bear in German,
New Bern refers to Bern in Switzerland “bear’n” also referring to a bear
In Swiss German.

For practical purposes and also since being the economical heart of Europe, Berlin was chosen as the European Base of Operations.

Team Group Entity:

For the legal entity Team Group chose for a Wyoming LLC, the State where the first LLC from Germany was “born”, with soon an operating license in the State of North Carolina.

Team Group Operations Organization Structure:

Team group operates with a “live vest organization” meaning that there is a core of 3 people operating the group on a day to day basis, which organization will be “ inflated” with hired specialists on an ad hoc basis and of course an external reputable New Bern CPA.
Team group strives to hire their external advisors as much as possible from the “local” New Bern Economy and plans to be a significant “team player” in the community.

Team Group’s Humanitarian Involvement

Team group will donate a percentage of its net proceeds for a yearly changing humanitarian purpose both in Europe and the U.S.

  • Humanitarian purpose 2012 for the U.S.: Fans across America, that helps provide living necessities to families with seriously ill children, families in transition and homeless students
  • Humanitarian purpose 2012 for Europe: To be decided by the board
